Affiliate disclosure
This page explains, in plain language, how CoverageForPets makes money and what that money does and does not buy. It is the disclosure required of affiliate publishers, written the way we would want to read it ourselves.
How we earn money
CoverageForPets participates in affiliate programs run by pet insurance companies and by affiliate networks that represent them. Some links on this site are affiliate links. When you click one, visit the insurer's site, and request a quote, the insurer or its network may pay us a commission for the referral.
- The commission is paid by the insurer, out of its own marketing spending.
- It costs you nothing extra. Your premium is set by the insurer and your plan settings, the same whether you arrived from this site or went to the insurer directly.
- Requesting a quote does not enroll you in a policy, and a commission can be earned on a quote request alone. Nothing is charged to you for a quote.
- Not every insurer mentioned on this site has an affiliate relationship with us. Companies are named in our guides when they are relevant to the topic, whether or not a commission exists.
What commissions do not influence
- They do not buy placement. A company cannot pay to appear in a guide, to appear higher in one, or to have a drawback removed.
- They do not change our descriptions. How a policy works is described from the insurer's own published documents, the same documents available to you.
- They do not create ratings or rankings. We do not publish scores or rankings we cannot support with a stated method and sources.
- They do not make us your advisor. However you arrived at a decision, the decision is yours, and our guides are a starting point for your own reading of the policy documents.
The United States Federal Trade Commission requires publishers to disclose material connections like these. We would publish this page even if it did not. A reader who knows how a site earns money can judge its content properly, and that judgment is the whole business model here.
General information only
Everything published on CoverageForPets is general educational information about pet insurance. It describes how policies typically work across the industry and, where stated, what a specific insurer's published documents say. It is not tailored to any individual pet, owner, or financial situation.
- CoverageForPets is not an insurance company, insurance agency, or insurance brokerage, and no one here is acting as your insurance agent.
- Nothing on this site is insurance advice, financial advice, or a recommendation that you buy, keep, or cancel any specific policy.
- Policy terms, prices, waiting periods, and coverage details change, and they vary by insurer and by state. The policy documents from the insurer are the only authoritative source for any plan you are considering. Read them before you enroll.
- For advice about your own situation, talk to a licensed insurance professional. For advice about your pet's health, talk to your veterinarian.
Accuracy and updates
We work from insurer sources and revisit our guides on a regular cycle. Insurance products change between visits, so a guide can lag a change we have not caught yet. When there is any conflict between this site and an insurer's current policy documents, the insurer's documents are correct. See also our privacy page for how this site handles visitor information.
