Privacy

CoverageForPets is a guide site, and it is built to need very little information from you. This page explains, in plain language, what is collected when you visit, what is not, and what happens when you leave this site to visit an insurer.

The short version

What is collected when you visit

Like almost every website, this site is delivered by servers that keep standard technical logs. Those logs can include your device's internet address, the pages requested, and the type of browser used. They exist so the site can be served, secured, and debugged, and they are the ordinary exhaust of running a website rather than a profile of you.

This site uses Google Analytics (GA4), a measurement service from Google, to understand how visitors use the site in aggregate, such as which guides are read most and roughly where traffic comes from. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and records information such as pages visited, time on page, device and browser type, and approximate location derived from your internet address. We review this data in aggregated reports, not as a profile of you, and we do not use it to identify individual visitors. We do not run third-party advertising trackers on this site. You can opt out of Google Analytics with Google's own Google Analytics opt-out add-on for your browser.

Cookies

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. The cookies on this site come from Google Analytics, described above, and are used to measure visits in aggregate. This site does not depend on cookies to work, and every guide stays fully readable if you block or clear cookies in your browser settings. If we later add features or tools that use cookies in new ways, this page will say which ones and why. If a change ever requires a consent notice for visitors in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we will provide that notice as the law requires.

When you click through to an insurer

Our guides link out to insurers' websites, where quote forms ask for information about you and your pet, such as your email address and your pet's breed and age. The moment you leave CoverageForPets, you are on the insurer's site, under the insurer's privacy policy, not this one. We never see the answers you type into an insurer's quote form, and we never receive your payment details. Insurers may tell their affiliate partners that a quote request happened, in general terms, so commissions can be recorded. That reporting does not hand us your policy, your premium, or your pet's medical information.

Before you submit any quote form, it is worth a minute with that insurer's own privacy policy, since that document governs what happens to the information you give them.
